SAIR Travel Grants

SAIR Travel Grants are to promote professional development among institutional research professionals that work in institutions and organizations located in states associated with the Southern Association for Institutional Research (SAIR).

Travel Grants are available to both active members and newcomers (individuals who will become new members of SAIR at the immediate next annual conference). Applications from individuals who have not received a travel grant from SAIR within the past two years receive priority.

Up to eight travel grants in the amount of $300, plus waiver of conference registration fee, are available each year for travel to the SAIR conference.

One travel grant is reserved specifically for a SAIR member who was a newcomer at the 2017 SAIR conference in Fort Worth and will be returning for their second SAIR conference in 2018. The Bill Fendley Travel Grant was established in 2007 to honor William R. Fendley, a Distinguished Member, recipient of the James R. Montgomery Outstanding Service Award, and a Past President of SAIR. Bill served as a mentor to many and was always one of the first to greet newcomers to the profession and the organization.

Instructions for applying for a travel grant, including the Bill Fendley Travel Grant, are available on the SAIR website.

Larry G. Jones Graduate Student Travel Grant

Established in 2005 to honor past SAIR president Larry G. Jones, this travel grant is awarded annually to a deserving graduate student who will receive $500 and waiver of the conference registration fee.

Applicants for the Larry G. Jones Graduate Student Travel Grant must be currently enrolled as a graduate student at the Master's or Doctoral degree level at an accredited institution. The applicant must also have submitted a scholarly paper which has been accepted for presentation at the annual SAIR conference.

Additional criteria and instructions for applying for the Larry G. Jones Graduate Student Travel Grant may be found on the SAIR Website.

The deadline to submit a travel grant application has been extended to August 18.
