Admission Standards Increasing

The Board of Regents approved new requirements, which will start in the fall of 2012, are:

  • high school grade-point average of 2.0 in CORE classes.
  • a 20 composite score on the ACT.
  • no remedial or developmental courses (begins 2014).
  • take the Regents high school core curriculum.

    Note: The requirements listed below are the Board of Regents minimum requirements. Some institutions have adopted or may choose to adopt additional requirements. Please check with the specific institution(s) for additional admissions requirements.

    Selective I


    Criteria:
    * Completion of Regents? high school core curriculum
    AND
    * High school GPA of 3.0 or greater OR
    * ACT composite score of 25 or greater OR
    * High school graduation rank top 10% of class AND
    * Require no remedial course work

    LSU and A&M College



    Selective II


    Criteria:
    * Completion of Regents? high school core curriculum
    AND
    * High school GPA of 2.5 or greater OR
    * ACT composite score of 23 or greater OR
    * High school graduation rank top 25% of class AND
    * Require no more than one remedial course

    University of Louisiana-Lafayette

    Selective III


    Criteria:
    * Completion of Regents? high school core curriculum
    AND
    * High school GPA of 2.0 or greater OR
    * ACT composite score of 20 or greater OR

    * Require no more than one remedial course
