Louisiana has a vast selection of choices for you to pursue higher education. The choices range from public technical colleges, public community colleges, and public universities to private universities.

Please explore this site to find out about all of your choices and then begin the application process. Most colleges and universities now have online applications, which will make it easy for you to apply to a number of institutions.

In addition to beginning the college application process, we recommend that you begin the financial aid application process at the same time. You can start the federal financial aid process for each year beginning in January.

Admission Standards Increasing

The Board of Regents approved new four-year university admission requirements starting in 2012:

  • high school grade-point average of 2.0 in CORE classes.

  • a 20 composite score on the ACT.

  • no remedial or developmental courses (begins 2014).

  • take the Regents high school core curriculum.
